Wedding Professionals Give Back To Community
Triad Professional Wedding Guild donates non-perishable food to Greensboro Urban Ministries
GREENSBORO, NC, November 5, 2009 -- Through the holidays many families go without and the members of the Triad Professional Wedding Guild wanted to help. During their November meeting, members collected 70 pounds of non-perishable food to help many local families receive a decent meal. Their donations will go to Greensboro Urban Ministries.
Rev. Mike Aiken, Executive Director said, “In 2008 Greensboro Urban Ministry, along with the rest of the country and the entire world, has had to face the challenges of an ‘Economic Hurricane’ that has negatively affected many lives. During the months of November and December alone, Urban Ministry saw a 30 to 40 percent increase in requests for services.”
Guild members responded to this dramatic increase in need for 2009 by donating food to the community. “We are an industry that celebrates one of the happiest occasions in life, weddings,” said Gail Galloway, Perfect Wedding Guide publisher. “We wanted to give back to those who may be having hard times.”Along with supporting the Teacher Supply Warehouse in the summer they plan to make this an annual event. 11/05/09
